Mission Statement
The Joseph Interfaith Foundation is a joint Muslim-Jewish interfaith organisation that is committed to fostering engagement through a constructive and realistic dialogue between the Muslim and Jewish communities in Britain and abroad. The Foundation also aims to promote a deeper understanding of both faiths among the general public.
We believe that one of the major-shared principles of Judaism and Islam is education and the pursuit of knowledge for the sake of humanity and the welfare of society. Therefore, we aim to provide a diversity of forums where discussion and debate can take place based on conviction for the truth and mutual respect and commitment to shared principles of citizenship.
The Foundation will be particularly active at secondary educational institutions and universities. Therefore, the Foundation's programmes will be directed specifically towards the youth and grassroots, as well as the religious, cultural, communal and educational sections of both communities.
Our shared eponym, the biblical/qur'anic Joseph, demonstrates the height of achievement by a member of a religious minority in a multi-faith society without compromising his own religious identity. Thus it is our vision to strive towards enriching and empowering our religiously diverse and cohesive society by the positive contributions of our communities.
