United in Opposing the Far Right

Is a rational co-operation between Muslim and Jewish students in opposing the Far Right more productive than unilateral opposition?

As part of its programmes for the first national Inter Faith Week, the Joseph Interfaith Foundation in association with the Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester held a panel discussion at Manchester University on Wednesday 18th November.

More than 50 people, mostly students listened to the views of the panel consisting of Gemma (Barrister-at-Law, Kings Chambers, Manchester, member of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation), Sadia (Dental student at Manchester University, member of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation), Joshua (Anthropology student at Manchester University, member of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation) and Cllr Afzal Khan CBE (Joint Chair of the Muslim Jewish Forum).

There followed a Question and Answer session chaired by Mehri Niknam MBE, the Executive Director of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation.

The panel and audience members were all in agreement that notwithstanding the differences between the Muslim and Jewish students about Israel-Palestine, a joint front by Muslim and Jewish students would be the most effective way in opposing the BNP.
